 Heart Motif Jewelry

The shape of the HEART denotes the center of both the spiritual and physical being, and in early days was thought to be the seat of mental abilities as well. In the western world it symbolizes love, charity, and passion. It is drawn in a stylized version, not the actual shape of the human heart, and is often colored red. Associated with Valentine's Day, it is a gift of love in the form of jewelry. Heart motif jewelry is a classic, found in almost every jewelry catalogue no matter what the date. The material from which it is made may change with fashions of the era, but the motif itself remains the same as you can see in these examples.

PLEASE NOTE: Regretfully, it is no longer possible to respond to individual questions regarding jewelry history, identification or value, or to offer written or verbal appraisals or opinions. The demand for this kind of information is absolutely too overwhelming for one dealer to fill.
I love jewelry, but appraising and selling are two entirely different businesses, and I choose selling and research as my business.

Instead, articles are added on a regular basis to JEWEL CHAT on line Magazine, a wonderful reference for  information on many makers and styles of vintage jewelry.
