VICTORIAN antique sterling ring box with cherubs on either side of the center cartouche, which is engraved with the letter "H". This beauty is lined with dark chocolate brown velvet lining, has a pie crust edging around the lid, and holds 6 rings. It is hallmarked for Birmingham, England, sterling and the date 1897, 5" by 1-5/8" and 1" deep, and the total weight of this box is 3.92 ounces.  FRENCH lovely jewelry box is brown leather which is lined with a soft green silk, which shows some fraying, and tufted with golden balls, 10" by 10" by 3-1/2" deep. Inside at the front corners is some water damage that slightly discolors the silk, and on the outside there's some scuffing of the brown material, which I think is a thin layer of leather. A wonderful way to display jewelry through the original beveled glass lid! It is hinged and the lock, while tight, opens and closes with a bit of pressure. Just recently, we saw a box almost identical to this one and it was marked "France".  View  #a39732

PLEASE NOTE: Regretfully, it is no longer possible to respond to individual questions regarding jewelry history, identification or value, or to offer written or verbal appraisals or opinions. The demand for this kind of information is absolutely too overwhelming for one dealer to fill.
I love jewelry, but appraising and selling are two entirely different businesses, and I choose selling and research as my business.

Instead, articles are added on a regular basis to JEWEL CHAT on line Magazine, a wonderful reference for  information on many makers and styles of vintage jewelry.
