FRIENDSHIP JEWELRY

The hand craft of painting on porcelain has been popular
for well over 100 years, and painted jewelry was a gift from the heart
denoting friendship. While flowers were the most prevalent motif, pieces
were also done with people and scenes as subjects. Special pieces might also be engraved on the
back with names and dates, or signed on the front by the artist. Like most
amateur art, some pieces are beautifully executed and some more primitive,
but all were given with love and worn with pride.

T.J.
MOTT
JEWELRY

Over the years we have had several brooches by this maker,
who I think was English. All so far have been marked on the back, and they
have as subjects scenes or lovely ladies. Usually set under a slightly domed
glass, they give an illusion similar to a paperweight.
