LEAVES

These frosted glass leaves have always caught my eye. The delicacy, colors and combinations with other stones are very special.
Makers who used these include Hattie Carnegie, Hobe, Schreiner and also some unsigned pieces. So far, I haven't seen these used in necklaces or bracelets, but who knows what may turn up in the future.
Colors: yellow, green, peach, golden, black, tan and clear.
Each molded veined glass leaf is held in a solid back gold tone setting and attached to a straight "branch". Some have a tiny rhinestone drop at the end of each leaf and some do not. Each twig can be bent a bit in order to curve around a center stone.

HATTIE CARNEGIE brooch with golden glass leaves surrounding black glass bugle bead center set in gold tone metal, 2-1/3" by 2". Similar molded glass leaves were also  used by Schreiner during this time period and I have a real fondness for them.   View   View   #C38229

DAZZLING large blue art glass stone surrounded by "carved" green glass leaves set in gold tone set, 2-1/4" brooch and 1-1/2" earrings. This is unsigned, but made both front and back like some of  the Hattie Carnegie brooches.    View   View   #S29798

PINK molded pink satin glass leaves brooch set in gold tone and accented with gray rhinestones, 2-3/4" by 1-1/2". The leaves have a shimmering look and are really lovely, some of my favorites. I have seen them used in signed designer pieces, such as Hattie Carnegie, and in unsigned jewelry as well.  View   View   #Y38730

FROSTED glass blue and white leaves frosted leaves brooch and earrings in a gold tone setting. The brooch is 2-5/8" by 2-1/3" and the clip back earrings 7/8". They are accented with small glass pearls and shimmer in the light. I have now seen this same set signed "Schreiner NY". The designer Hattie Carnegie was also fond of these leaves and used them in her jewelry, and I have also seen them in similar unsigned pieces, too. Circa 1960, this is a really lovely set in excellent condition.   View   View   View    View   View   View     #Y39242

HOBE earrings with frosted glass green veined leaves and green rhinestones set in gold tone, 2-3/4" by 1-5/8". The earrings have the comfortable roll clips that Hobe often used on their clip backed earrings, and the "Hobe" name is seen there. These are brilliant, work perfectly and are in excellent condition  View    #O38734

Hattie Carnegie made different versions of this brooch, as you can see here.

And even the backs are not quite the same.

PLEASE NOTE: Regretfully, it is no longer possible to respond to individual questions regarding jewelry history, identification or value, or to offer written or verbal appraisals or opinions. The demand for this kind of information is absolutely too overwhelming for one dealer to fill.
I love jewelry, but appraising and selling are two entirely different businesses, and I choose selling as my business.

Instead, articles are added on a regular basis to JEWEL CHAT on line Magazine, a wonderful reference for  information on many makers and styles of vintage jewelry.
