flowers and bead work decorate this satin lined black crepe 42" circular
cape. It has a 16" neck and is approximately elbow length. It is deeply
edged with green velvet.

Au Bon Marché is the oldest (1852) and most stylish department store in
Paris. For 150 years, well-to-do Parisians have been able to spend pleasant
afternoons selecting various luxury items and elegant designer fashions,
Oriental carpets and unusual antiques.

Triple border of
RUFFLES at bottom over green velvet
border. I would estimate this to be a size 8-10, but because it is made as
an almost full circle, it would fit a smaller or slightly larger size as
well.
Tag marked, "Au Bon Marche, Maison
A. Boucicault, Paris". There is a 2-1/2" tear on the inside right at the
neckline seam, but no other damage that I can see.

REMARKABLE large photo of a group of
fancy dressed ladies. They are wearing their most elaborate bonnets, hats and
dresses, as well as high-laced boots, fans, purses and baskets. Their jewelry
includes rings worn over a glove, fobs, hair brooches, bracelets, spectacle
chains, earrings, slide chains, bracelets and lockets. Note the lady 3rd from
the left who carries a beaded bag with a palm tree motif and the lady 4th from
the left dresses in a much shorter dress than the others and wearing masculine
clothing.

VICTORIAN black fabric bonnet with bugle beads, netting, flowers,
note "Mama’s bonnet made by L.P.M." , 13" around band, 3-1/2" brim. A
vintage photo shows how this hat
would have been worn.

It is made on several layer of a rich deep blue fabric, as well as other
fabrics under that to reinforce the heave fabric and make all the ruffles
and drapes stay in place.

This is a genuine
TREASURE
to me. It is the hand made wedding dress of my GREAT GRANDMOTHER, EMMA DIXON
KING, Kentucky circa 1894. I believe she made it herself by hand, and the
perfect, delicate stitches are a marvel.

It is tiny in size with probably an 18-19" waist and about the same size over
the bottom ribs, and I imagine it was worn with a corset underneath. She
was a tiny woman, standing few inches less than 5′ tall and wearing a size
3 shoe.

Beautiful draped front with ripples of fabric over the hip.

Jacket front shown above with the hand covered buttons in matching colored
velvet. Look at the photo below showing layers of pleated fabric.

Lovely velvet covered buttons that rundown the front of the jacket. For some
reason, this photo exaggerates the fading a lot. In person it is barely faded.

Hand written note saying who this dress belonged to, and there are indeed some
extra buttons inside.

The little metal eyes are whip stitches onto a brown fabric band at the waist.
