Staret Jewelry

STARET is a jewelry company about whom not whole a lot is
known. Their jewelry was made for a brief period from about
1940-1947, and they were
located in Chicago. There have always been rumors that they were affiliated
with Eisenberg, but this has been denied by Karl Eisenberg. Staret pieces are generally large, and the settings are often
enameled pot
metal with rhinestones.

STARET jewelry is showy and fun to wear.
The best pieces combine enameling and rhinestones like many of the ones
shown below. Staret collectors love the big hand brooches, especially
the Staret torch, the company’s most recognized piece. Like many
other pieces, the torch has been reproduced so buy from a reputable
dealer.

STARET
GENUINE 1940s torch brooch, an iconic and patriotic brooch with red and
clear rhinestones and blue, red and flesh pink enamel, genuine and made
in the 1940s, 4-1/8". This is the real thing and not the later
Barnes reproduction, and I have owned both so I know the difference.
Staret was based in Chicago, Illinois, and they only made jewelry for a
brief period from about 1940-1947. This wonderful brooch is seen
in Christie Romero’s "Warman’s Jewelry", 2nd Ed, page 191, in
Brunialti’s "Tribute to America" on page 55 and in Brunialti’s "American
Costume Jewelry, Art & Industry" on page 242.

STARET butterfly pin… that old classic from the 1940’s! It is unsigned,
but I have had these in several color combinations, both signed and
unsigned, before. It is 3 inches across with marvelous purple and clear
rhinestones. The clears show age in slight yellowing, as is true
with most of these butterfly pins that still have their original stones.
